Ember is an AI friend for moms: a supportive, non‑judgmental companion that listens, offers research‑based guidance, and helps you track what matters as you navigate motherhood. Our goal is to reduce stress and loneliness, and to help you feel steady, informed, and confident—day or night.

We are firmly committed to privacy and safety. We:

  • Collect only what’s needed to provide and improve Ember
  • Do not sell or rent your personal data
  • Do not allow third‑party ad networks or behavioral tracking
  • Give you simple controls to access, download, or delete your data

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use Ember, our websites, and related services (the “Services”). By using Ember, you agree to this Policy and our Terms.

We do NOT:

  • collect precise GPS location, contact lists, or your phone’s advertising identifier;
  • allow third‑party ad networks, behavioral advertising cookies, or social‑media trackers;
  • record phone calls outside the app; or use your microphone when you’re not interacting with Ember.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide & Maintain Ember – speech recognition and speech synthesis, conversation continuity, memory, reminders, and routines.
  • Non‑judgmental Support – a safe place to vent, process overwhelm, and get grounded at any hour.
  • Research‑Based Guidance – evidence‑informed answers to common motherhood and child‑development questions.
  • Personalization – use Memories to reduce repetitive explanations and tailor plans to your goals.
  • Safety & Moderation – detect and limit harmful or abusive content; provide supportive resources.
  • Product Improvement – de‑identified and aggregated analytics to improve reliability and features.
  • Legal & Compliance – meet legal obligations, protect the security of users, prevent fraud, and enforce terms.

4. Legal Bases for Users in the EEA/UK

We process personal information only when we have a valid legal basis under the EU/UK GDPR:

  • Consent – e.g., storing conversation content or sending notifications.
  • Contract – to provide the Services you request.
  • Legal Obligation – where required by law.
  • Legitimate Interests – limited analytics, security, and fraud prevention that do not override your rights.

5. How & When We Disclose Information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We disclose it only:

6. Children’s Privacy & Child Info You Provide

Ember is designed for adults. It is not directed to children and does not create accounts for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable).

  • Child notes are optional – You may choose to enter limited child information to receive tailored guidance. This information is provided by you and associated with your account.
  • Control – You can access, edit, export, or delete child notes at any time (see Section 9).
  • If we learn that we have collected a child’s personal information without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly.

7. Data Retention

We periodically review stored data. When you request deletion, we anonymize or securely erase your data within a reasonable period (typically within 30 days), subject to legal requirements and backup integrity windows.

8. Security

We use industry‑standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards—including encryption in transit and at rest, role‑based access controls, and regular security audits—to protect information. No Internet transmission is 100 % secure, but we continuously work to keep risks to a minimum.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Parents (global) may:

  • Access or download their child's personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete their child's data and/or close the account
  • Withdraw consent at any time (which disables the child's access)

California Residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, as well as to limit use of "sensitive personal information" (we do not use data in ways requiring this limitation).

EEA/UK Residents may exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10. International Data Transfers

We host our Services in the United States. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed in jurisdictions that may have different data‑protection rules than your home country.

Ember may contain links to external sites (e.g., resources or support articles). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy in‑app and notify you in advance where required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
